Yoichi Shiraishi's objects are made from raw clay dug from the mountains, and the granular, reconstituted clay is randomly poured into molds to form them. The calories in the kiln cause the clay to undergo various unimaginable transformations, resulting in a work of art. The works, entrusted to natural phenomena and clad in complex textures, are powerful yet beautiful, and look as if they were a part of the earth that had been trimmed away.
